The role of Building Control has changed over the past 24 months following the introduction of the Building Safety Regulator and Salus has fully embraced these changes.

As Building Owners, Designers, Contractors and occupiers / clients you are duty holders under the suite of Building Safety Legislation and have legal responsibilities to ensure your buildings, designs and construction meets the requirements of the Building Regulations. The Building Regulations can be complex, covering everything from structural integrity to fire safety and energy efficiency.

As clients, designers and contractors you must satisfy yourselves that the functional requirement of the regulations have been met and you must ensure the guidance documents you choose are the most appropriate for the building type and occupancy profile.

Our experts offer clear and practical Registered Building Control Approver Services allowing you to navigate these requirements confidently.

As a Registered Building Control Approver our role is to ensure the regulatory requirements are met by both the design team and construction teams.

To enable us to fulfil this role our Building Control Approval Services has a high number of Class 3 and Class 4 Specialist Registered Building Inspectors, who are able to provide Building Control Approval Services on Buildings over 18m in height and buildings utilising Modern Methods of Construction/ non traditional building forms.

As part of our Building Control Approver services we are well placed to provide building control advisor services to the DIO / MOD under their JSP850 compliance procedures and are providing this service across a number of DIO facilities.

Where Salus are not the building control approver for the scheme we can assist you with your schemes for Building Regulation assistance, in terms of reviewing the information, assisting the team in the application and interruption of the guidance.

The complexities of the fire safety design and component interfaces faced when designing buildings can be very daunting, Salus’ expertise through their highly qualified experienced Fire Safety Consultants can provide Fire Safety Strategies for the buildings from RIBA Stage 1 through to Stage 6, by providing a bespoke service which will assist your design and construction teams with the solutions for a fully inclusive design in line with Approved Document B, HTM05-02, BB100, BS9999, Ministry of Justice, Probation Service and Ministry of Defence Guidance and support to ensure a compliance with fire safety legislation, guidance and best practice.

The team will work closely with the designers and Principal Designer (Building Regulations) to develop the fire strategy including safe means of escape, measures to minimise internal and external fire spread and ensure suitable facilities are provided for the fire service to the building.

The team can provide their expertise on all building forms including modern methods of construction, across all sectors on any height of building project.

The fire strategy is the first and vital component to informing the responsible person for the fire risk assessment on how the building works for occupancy.

Once your building has been completed we are able to provide Fire Risk Assessments.

In line with the Building Safety Regulator Operational Standards, the Registered Building Control Approver should have no other function in the project, therefore if we are appointed for Building Regulation Consultancy, we will not provide any other services.
