BWB – Part of the Nottingham Skyline since 1990

BWB was founded in Nottingham in 1990 and over the past 35 years has played a significant role in making Nottingham the great city it is today.

We have proudly contributed to many of the most notable and major developments in the city, from the Corner House and Trinity Square on the northside of the city centre, the Hicking Building in the Southside Regeneration area, Beeston Town Centre redevelopment to the west and the River Crescent residential development on the banks of the River Trent.

BWB is also recognised by Investors in People for our outstanding achievements in people development and corporate culture and was awarded the highest Platinum status - the only Large UK Engineering Consultancy to obtain this recognition.

In our home city of Nottingham, Rushcliffe School’s redevelopment delivers new teaching and sports facilities, as well as comprehensive upgrades to existing buildings, providing a modern and spacious learning environment for students.

The school underwent a major redevelopment that included the construction of a new four-storey teaching block, dining hall, catering kitchen, and sports hall. The project also involved extensive refurbishment of the existing school buildings and the installation of a new all-weather pitch, enhancing the school’s capacity to accommodate its growing student population.

Designed to modernise the school's facilities, the new £26m buildings provide state-of-the-art classrooms and sports amenities. The redevelopment also included significant earthworks to address the site’s varied levels, and a sophisticated drainage strategy was implemented to prevent local flooding. The project has greatly improved the learning environment, supporting both academic and physical education, and provides students with high-quality, modern facilities that will serve the school community for years to come.

Power Park, located in Nottingham, is a significant industrial and logistics development delivered by Henry Boot Developments . The site spans 10 acres and includes seven speculative buildings, offering a total of 426,000 square feet of high-quality space for businesses.

The park is situated on the former Imperial Tobacco factory, which was constructed on a landfill site, making the development a complex engineering challenge.

Sustainability has been central to the project, with over 90% of materials from the original structure reused. During construction, the old factory’s concrete was crushed and repurposed to reduce environmental impact.

Power Park is set to boost local economic growth, offering modern facilities for logistics operations, while creating jobs and fostering long-term investment in the region with BWB having provided multidisciplinary services on the project.

Of further note, BWB is very proud to have worked alongside Nottingham City Council and Thomas Bow in delivering Maid Marian Way with BWB providing a comprehensive suite of services for West End Point, including the design of the general junction layout, highway alignment, and active travel elements. The £12 million project involves replacing the existing roundabout at the junction of Maid Marian Way, Derby Road, and Upper Parliament Street with the upgrade expected to be completed by mid-2025, reshaping this important gateway into the city.

During construction, uncharted caves were discovered beneath the project site. BWB conducted site investigations and devised remedial works to stabilise the ground, allowing the project to continue with minimal disruption. Additionally, the project required detailed consultations with local bus operators to identify new stop locations and manage changes in traffic patterns.

The West End Point redevelopment has significantly enhanced the public realm, providing a safer and more attractive space for pedestrians and cyclists. The integration of green spaces and improved accessibility has made the area more welcoming for the community and increased footfall, benefiting local businesses.
BWB have been involved in a number of other high profile projects, having recently completed the 348 apartment development The Barnum, HMRC’s Unity Square office building opposite Nottingham station for Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities, the Vita student accommodation on Station Street and the 350 apartment Saffron Court PRS scheme on Crocus Street for Cassidy Group.

Of huge importance to BWB is supporting the communities where we work, as such we have chosen this year to support BASE51 as our regional charity.
BASE51’s values of inclusion, an emphasis on physical and mental well-being, and support to allow young people to be their whole selves, resonates strongly with our core values to care, transform, integrate and challenge.

All of us at BWB are looking forward to working closely with BASE51 to make Nottingham a more sustainable place for our young people, and further complementing our involvement here by supporting STEM activity in our local schools.

With our head office in the city centre, BWB continues to play an important role in the regeneration of Nottingham and the surrounding area.
