BWB was founded in Nottingham in 1990 and over the past 36 years has played a significant role in making Nottingham the great city it is today.
We have proudly contributed to many of the most notable and major developments in the city, from the Corner House and Trinity Square on the northside of the city centre, the Hicking Building in the Southside Regeneration area, Beeston Town Centre redevelopment to the west and the River Crescent residential development on the banks of the River Trent.
BWB is also recognised by Investors in People for our outstanding achievements in people development and corporate culture, alongside our recognition as Investors in Wellbeing for our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our people.
In our home city of Nottingham, Trent Basin has been developed to be a transformative urban regeneration project situated on Nottingham’s historic Waterside. Designed around communal spaces, the project promotes sustainable living and green urban environments. Located just two miles from Nottingham city centre, Trent Basin embraces the city’s riverside character, offering residents waterside views and direct access to nature.
Trent Basin provides residents with waterside views and direct access to nature. The development is undergoing a major expansion, recently securing planning consent for Phase 4 to deliver 87 high-quality, energy-efficient homes. This project involves a mix of three and four-bedroom properties designed to enhance the capacity of this growing riverside community while prioritising sustainability.
Designed to modernise Nottingham’s south bank, the £100m masterplan features state-of-the-art low-carbon housing and Europe's largest community energy battery. The redevelopment also includes significant infrastructure, such as the new Waterside Bridge for pedestrians and cyclists, opening in June 2026. A sophisticated "fabric first" strategy and advanced drainage ensure the site remains protected and serve the community for years to come.
The Guildhall site provides visitors with a historic city-centre presence and architectural grandeur. The location is undergoing a major transformation, with planning approval recently granted for the "House of Social" project. This redevelopment involves the sensitive refurbishment of the Grade II-listed former police and fire stations, creating 610 student bedspaces and a vibrant public food hall to serve the city’s expanding population.
Designed to revitalise the North Sherwood Street area, the project features a new 18-storey tower alongside state-of-the-art residential amenities. The plans also include the restoration of the Victorian Guildhall into a high-end boutique hotel, maintaining its French Renaissance style.
A sophisticated heritage-led strategy was implemented to preserve the site's unique character, providing Nottingham with modern facilities that will support the urban community for years to come.
Of further note, BWB is very proud to have worked alongside Nottingham City Council and Thomas Bow in delivering Maid Marian Way with BWB providing a comprehensive suite of services for West End Point, including the design of the general junction layout, highway alignment, and active travel elements. The £12 million project involved replacing the existing roundabout at the junction of Maid Marian Way, Derby Road, and Upper Parliament Street, reshaping this important gateway into the city.
During construction, uncharted caves were discovered beneath the project site. BWB conducted site investigations and devised remedial works to stabilise the ground, allowing the project to continue with minimal disruption. Additionally, the project required detailed consultations with local bus operators to identify new stop locations and manage changes in traffic patterns.
The West End Point redevelopment has significantly enhanced the public realm, providing a safer and more attractive space for pedestrians and cyclists. The integration of green spaces and improved accessibility has made the area more welcoming for the community and increased footfall, benefiting local businesses.
BWB have been involved in a number of other high profile projects, such as the 348 apartment development The Barnum, HMRC’s Unity Square office building opposite Nottingham station for Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities, the Vita student accommodation on Station Street and the 350 apartment Saffron Court PRS scheme on Crocus Street for Cassidy Group.
Of huge importance to BWB is supporting the communities where we work, as such we have chosen this year to support BASE51 as our regional charity.
BASE51’s values of inclusion, an emphasis on physical and mental well-being, and support to allow young people to be their whole selves, resonates strongly with our core values to care, transform, integrate and challenge.
All of us at BWB are looking forward to working closely with BASE51 to make Nottingham a more sustainable place for our young people, and further complementing our involvement here by supporting STEM activity in our local schools.
With our head office in the city centre, BWB continues to play an important role in the regeneration of Nottingham and the surrounding area.
