WALDECK WELCOMES KTP ASSOCIATE MUHAMMAD TO OUR RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT TEAM

Waldeck are delighted to welcome KTP Associate, Muhammad Ahmad, to our Research & Development team following recent Innovate UK funding through our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project.

The Research & Development is part of an ongoing collaborative partnership between Waldeck, Nottingham Trent University, Birmingham City University and Network Rail. Muhammad will be part of the team researching and developing our joint in-house asset viewing and examination solution for industry.

In collaboration with Nottingham Trent University, the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) facilitates the development of the IDSES, an Intelligent Digital Structure Examination System, that integrates machine learning, deep learning, and state of the art visualisation technologies to automate and enhance examination of infrastructures, including bridges, highways, and road structures.

Muhammad is an experienced graduate having undertaken software development with companies in a variety of industries and sizes using a diverse set of technologies.

Muhammad (pictured left with Dr Song Wu) shared of his new role.

“Joining the KTP at Waldeck is an amazing opportunity to contribute to a highly useful software for industry. The KTP will involve using modern technologies, such as deep learning, to support the process of Infrastructure Examination. The final software will make the process of Infrastructure Examination easier and more objective for engineers and industry.

“I am looking forward to working on this amazing project at Waldeck.”

Dr Song Wu, Professor of Construction Management – School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, at Nottingham Trent University, said: “The KTP project represents a significant enhancement for the research work we have been undertaking over the past few years. It offers a genuine opportunity to transform research and development into a commercial service for a broad infrastructure management sector. I am very pleased that we have been able to appoint Muhammad, and I am confident he will make a valuable contribution.”

Veronica Ruby-Lewis, Associate Director and Waldeck’s Lead for the Programme added: “Having seen huge success from a previous KTP spread over a two-year programme of work, Muhammad will be embedded into Waldeck’s team to support and undertake research, enabling the further enhancement of the company’s existing asset viewing and examination solution into the IDSES.

“The development Muhammad will undergo will expand Waldeck’s capabilities and enable us to tap into the growing market for smart infrastructure solutions.”

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) aim to help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills within the UK knowledge base. This KTP project was funded by UKRI through Innovate UK.
