Rodgers Leask bolsters Nottingham operations - “reinforces our position as a leading force in the East Midlands engineering sector”

Engineering consultancy Rodgers Leask has bolstered its presence in Nottingham with team growth, an office expansion and appointment to several projects.

Rodgers Leask's recently expanded office space will accommodate the consultancy's growing team and support its commitment to providing multi-disciplinary expertise on projects in the county and wider region.

David Spurrell has joined the team as an associate, bringing more than 30 years of experience in structural engineering.

He said: "Rodgers Leask's collaborative approach and commitment to offering effective engineering solutions made this move a really exciting opportunity.

"I have always enjoyed the variety of structural engineering because every job brings something different, whether that's new landscapes or new technology.

"With the variety of projects the business is working on, I have no doubt I'll get to tackle new challenges and offer my experience on projects that will shape Nottinghamshire’s built environment."

Aaron Hand joined the company at the end of 2025, bringing his expertise to the transport planning team.

"Rodgers Leask has such a broad depth of experience across disciplines and sectors and it’s a pleasure to join the team," he said." The transport planning team has an impressive mix of technical and strategic skills, from highway design and traffic modelling to feasibility studies and policy and planning strategies.

"There is massive potential for growth, particularly in the residential and education sectors, and I'm looking forward to seeing how I can help drive this in my new role."

Principal structural engineer Majid Ahmed was also recently recruited to the Nottingham team, moving across from Rodgers Leask's Derby office to become the structures lead with the aim of achieving further growth in the department.

Peter Sparham, regional director at Rodgers Leask, added: "This recent expansion strengthens our presence in Nottingham and reinforces our position as a leading force in the East Midlands engineering sector.

"Our multi-disciplinary approach combined with a deep understanding of the local landscape enables us to tackle the region’s most complex engineering challenges."

The Nottingham team has recently worked on several key projects across Nottinghamshire including the multimillion-pound Automated Distribution and Manufacturing Centre (ADMC) in Sutton in Ashfield, where it undertook the detailed design of a new steel framed industrial unit with adjoining two-storey offices.

Another project the team is currently involved in within the wider region is Airfield Business Park in Market Harborough, which has seen the team outline foundations and masonry design for three individual steel industrial units. The project is the final phase of a development for Leicestershire County Council for which Rodgers Leask developed the initial infrastructure design. Completion of the final phase of the £16.4m project is expected at the end of February.

Sparham said: "Since establishing the Nottingham office, one of our key missions has been to work with local partners to make Nottingham and the surrounding county an even better place to live and work.

"Each year we continue to invest in that mission, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve with this expanded offering."
