Salus Secures Long-Term Independence Through Employee Ownership Trust
In December 2025, Salus (Building Control & Fire Safety Consultants) Ltd, a National Registered Building Control Approver and specialist Building Regulations and Fire Safety consultancy, transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), securing the long-term independence of the business and reinforcing its commitment to technical integrity and professional standards.
The move follows 23 years of sole ownership by the company’s founding shareholders and places Salus among a growing number of professional services firms adopting employee ownership as a succession and stewardship model. The transition ensures continuity for clients while recognising the contribution of employees to the company’s growth and reputation.
Under the new structure, founders Stuart Power and Paul Meadows will remain with the business as Joint Chief Executive Officers, providing leadership continuity and maintaining the values on which Salus was established. The EOT model allows for long-term planning without external ownership pressures, supporting independent decision-making in a sector facing increasing regulatory complexity.
As part of the transition, Salus has appointed Steven Cooper, James Emery, James Tutton and Andrew Wignall as Directors, strengthening the leadership team and reflecting the depth of technical and managerial expertise developed internally.
The company also marks the retirement of Paul Morris, founder shareholder, following many years of service. His contribution has been central to the development of Salus, and the business has expressed its thanks for his role in shaping the organisation.
For clients, the move to employee ownership provides reassurance that Salus will continue to prioritise consistency, compliance and professional judgement over short-term commercial growth. For employees, the EOT creates a shared stake in the long-term success of the business, supporting retention, collaboration and skills development at a time of increasing demand on building control and fire safety professionals.
Commenting on the transition, Stuart Power and Paul Meadows said:
“Employee ownership allows us to secure the future of Salus in a way that reflects how the business has always operated — independently, responsibly and with a strong focus on doing the job properly. It ensures continuity for clients and recognises the people who have helped build the company.”
Salus will continue to operate as usual, delivering building control and fire safety services across commercial, residential and specialist sectors. The move to employee ownership represents a long-term commitment to independence, professional integrity and sustainable growth within the built environment.
