A Leicester College student has successfully transitioned from classroom learning into full-time employment after impressing industry professionals during a course-related site visit with Lovell Partnerships.

Litran Sinfield, from Enderby in Leicester, has secured an electrician apprenticeship with the housebuilder after demonstrating his determination for a career in the electrical industry following a college organised visit to a Lovell housing development.

During the visit Litran, who was in his second year at Leicester College studying Electrical Installation, made a strong impression on the site team, leading to an invitation to return just two weeks later when he was offered an electrician apprenticeship with a Lovell contractor.

Commenting on his apprentice role, Litran said: “I’m really enjoying working with Lovell and its site teams and very grateful for the opportunity. Apprenticeships teach you things you wouldn’t otherwise learn, and you gain so much more knowledge being on site every day. Being in a real work environment has really boosted my skills and confidence and having the opportunity to earn while learning is a huge benefit.”

As part of his apprenticeship, Litran now studies in Birmingham while gaining hands-on experience on site, working alongside fellow apprentices and building valuable real-world skills.

A spokesperson from Leicester College said: “We are incredibly proud of Litran and the proactive attitude he has shown throughout his studies. Partnerships with employers like Lovell are vital in bringing learning to life and giving students the chance to gain real industry insight, build confidence, and take their first steps into meaningful careers.”

Lovell is one of the UK’s most established partnership housing specialists and a national leader in place-making, delivering multi-tenure homes, regeneration programmes and large-scale strategic sites.

Its apprenticeship programme is a vital tool in bringing new talent and skills into the business and the construction sector. It offers a wide range of apprenticeships covering all areas of the industry, from building new homes, through to property refurbishment and maintenance.

Lovell Partnerships site manager, Ricky Barton, said: “Litran stood out to our team from the moment we met him. His enthusiasm, willingness to learn and clear passion for the trade made him a natural fit for the site environment. Supporting young people into the construction industry is something we are committed to, and it’s great to see Litran now progressing into an electrical apprenticeship.”
