Turnover and profits rise at contractor dating back to 1892 - historic firm benefits from “positive moves back to stable trading conditions”

Turnover and profits have risen at a contractor which dates back to 1892 and has multiple offices across the Midlands, new documents have confirmed, with the company noting "positive moves back to stable trading conditions in the construction industry". 

G F Tomlinson Group, which is headquartered in Derbyshire, was formed by George F Tomlinson and now works across the Midlands and nationally on a range of different types and sizes of projects up to major multimillion-pound developments.

Its sector experience includes education, healthcare, commercial, civic, leisure, retail and industrial, working for both public and private clients. 

The company has reported a turnover of £92.9m for the year to 30 June 2025, up from £80.1m in 2024. 

Pre-tax profits climbed from £1m to £1.1m over the same period. 

A statement signed off by the board said: "During the financial year, we have continued to see positive moves back to stable trading conditions in the construction industry.

"In the year, our continued focus remains on working with our public sector partners, including Scape, Pagabo, Construction West Midlands and the University of Nottingham, all which have proved to be very successful."

Significant projects completed in the financial year included St John's Grange and Burleyfields Primary Schools in Staffordshire valued at £10m each, the £9.5m Institute of Technology for Barnsley College, the £15m Amenities Building for the University of Nottingham, the £8m Colonnades Visitors Centre in Sutton on Sea and £11m college buildings for Nottingham College.
