Lorraine has headed up the inward investment team in Nottingham for 10 years focussing on delivering an inward investment strategy for the city and county, business development, client liaison and project management. The inward investment service was previously part of the local authority but became independent in April 2016 becoming part of the destination marketing company Marketing NG. The team promotes the city and surrounding area as a preferred business destination in order to attract and support investment. Lorraine’s previous experience includes roles with the BBC newsroom, conveyancing at Burton & Burton solicitors and the legal department at HM Land Registry.
I am currently a business development manager, who joined BSP Consulting as an administration assistant in August 2004, before becoming accounts assistant, and then office manager in January 2010, I started my new role at the beginning of February 2016 as a business development coordinator, and have since been promoted to a business development manager in 2018. I manage the business development across all four offices of BSP Consulting – in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Sheffield. I attend monthly management meetings and regular marketing meetings. I get involved in organising and helping to host various construction networking events and help out with administering our social networking and website updates. I hold regular B2B meetings and have a wealth of market intelligence to share amongst my connections. At BSP Consulting we are very proactive and are keen to meet new contacts to discuss opportunities for working together. Based in the East Midlands, we work across the UK and beyond, offering civil, structural, traffic, transportation, geotechnical and environmental engineering services.
Outside of work I enjoy running and partook in the Ikano Robin Hood Half Marathon 2014. I also partook in the Sporting Futures Derby 10k in April 2017 and have committed to participate again in 2018. Andrew is a Chartered surveyor with 30 Year’s experience in Commercial Property. Originally from an Agency Background with a specialism in Retail and Investment, he is joint founder and owner of Saxondale Properties, a Commercial Development Company, who are active throughout the Midlands and have been involved with the development of property in a number of sectors, including Retail, Local Centres, Medical Surgeries, Trade Warehouses, Industrial and Budget Hotels, having been involved with the development of Hotels in Loughborough and Leek.
He also has considerable experience in dealing with development on contaminated land, having previously worked closely with one of the large Petrochemical Companies. He is also active in the Property Investment market.
Liz Cartwright is MD of leading Midlands PR and digital agency Cartwright Communications. A former journalist, Liz set up her business 11 years ago and now employs 23 people. The company works across a number of sectors and specialisms including property and construction, professional services and food and drink. Liz is very well connected across the Midlands and is proud to use those connections and her expertise to help grow the business.
Peter Conboy is a Project Director for igloo with responsibility for a number of residential developments being undertaken by the Blueprint development vehicle including the new 400 home, sustainable residential neighbourhood at Trent Basin and the 150 home low-energy housing schemes in Nottingham’s Meadows. Trent Basin is a multi-phase Trent-side scheme, supported by the first of its kind Community Energy scheme. The Meadows scheme included one of the largest passively designed Association of Environment Conscious Building (AECB) silver standard projects in the UK. For the wider igloo group, Peter is involved in developing Igloo’s housing product supply chains.
Peter has over 30 years’ experience in property development, regeneration, asset management and funding and has previously worked for project finance and regeneration specialists Abros (now Navigant), Leicester Regeneration Company (a URC), Manchester Airport plc and in the Republic of Ireland with Shannon Development.
Peter has 27 years full membership of the RICS, has previously been a Professional Competence Assessor for the RICS in Property Investment and Planning and Development and is a graduate of the Investment Property Forums advanced education programme.
Stephen is the Principal New Business Manager for Willmott Dixon, a privately-owned construction company. He has over 25 years’ experience in the industry, with the last 15 years spent working in the residential sector in the Midlands and Yorkshire regions.
He works with the wider Willmott Dixon team and other stakeholders to identify prospective sites for development and has a proven track record of working on schemes that complete both within the programme period and to budget.
During his career he has worked on identifying a wide variety of projects including student accommodation, housing (affordable and sales), commercial, retail, high-rise residential schemes and on care projects, whether it be active elderly, extra care, over-55s, dementia friendly, supported or care villages, and has worked across both private and public sectors.
In his current role he is focused on developing relationships across multiple sectors, including: technology, higher education, leisure, hotels and education developments, and residential.
Tim Corthorn is a Relationship Director of Real Estate Finance. He has 20 years experience in Real Estate and looks after a mix of commercial and residential developer and investor clients operating in the East Midlands.
Will Cursham is a Senior Associate working from Gateley Plc’s Nottingham and Birmingham offices. He is a dispute resolution lawyer specialising in property-related disputes, mainly for the major national housebuilders. He also acts for regional housebuilders and a range of other residential and commercial developers.
Will is a keen writer on property law, and has contributed articles to Estates Gazette and to Gateley’s blogs. He also edits Gateley’s Housebuilder Update, a newsletter sent out every quarter to housebuilder clients.
Will deals with a wide range of property-related disputes, ranging from disputes arising from high value property agreements (including option agreements, joint-venture agreements, overage agreements and planning agreements) to land-related disputes (such as disputes over ransom strips, boundaries and easements). He also regularly assists his developer clients obtaining possession of sites from trespassers and forfeiting leases.
In addition, Will acts for developers in professional negligence claims against sub-contractors and construction professionals. He has also acted for developers in defending breach of contract and/or negligence claims brought by purchasers.
Nick Grace is a well-known Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) with over 22 years planning experience based in the Lace Market, Nottingham.
Having worked for a Local Authority in Surrey and then in London’s West End for Drivers Jonas, Nick moved to Nottingham and worked for Savills heading the Planning Team and leaving as a Director in 2012 to set up GraceMachin Planning & Property.
Nick acts for a variety of clients, from individual land owners and developers to rural estates principally across the East Midlands, with a specific focus on the Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire markets.
Nick often leads large consultant groups delivering complex planning applications across a range of sectors.
He also regularly appears at Local Plan Hearings promoting the social and economic benefits of new development (housing and employment) in the context of strategic land promotion.
Nick advocates to his clients the need to assess short, medium and long term planning and development opportunities and the benefits of actively monitoring and engaging in the plan making process.
Mark joined maber in 1996 as a project architect and became a Director in 2002 taking up the post of Managing Director in December 2004. He has been one of the major shareholders in the business since a management buy out in 2005. His strategic direction during this time has delivered practice growth from a single Nottingham office to present day, with five offices and a position as a UK top 100 practice in terms of size. In 2009 he was instrumental in establishing Maber International, a multi-disciplinary consortium delivering projects in the Middle East and Iraq.
As one of the first point client contacts in the company he has overall responsibility for securing new opportunities, together with maintaining client relationships. A key role is to lead the conceptual development on major projects and to ensure that the practice delivers consistent design integrity and quality of service across the organisation. The company’s marketing and business development strategy are also a key areas of responsibility.
Having worked in Nottingham for over 30 years Mark is proud to have been responsible for the delivery of many key landmark projects in both the city centre and across the Midlands region as a whole. He has experience in both new build and refurbishment projects and has contributed to the many design awards secured by the practice in their main sectors of activity: workplace, industrial, retail, residential, health, education, sport and leisure.
He is a chartered architect and has lectured on sustainable design at the RIBA in London.
James is a Senior Director of Gleeds, a privately owned, independent global property and construction consultancy, providing impartial advice since 1885. With an annual turnover fast approaching over £200m, Gleeds is proud to deliver award-winning, landmark projects in 20 countries around the world.
With over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, James has a wealth of experience in the commercial, leisure, residential, local authority, hotel and industrial sectors, but his specialism lies within education and retail. He currently holds responsibility for the teams providing support to a number of nationwide High Street retailers and has a lasting relationship with the University of Nottingham, who has been a valued client of Gleeds for over 60 years.
James is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and is passionate about bringing a new generation of talent into the construction industry.
Scott works as an Associate Director in the business space department of Innes England in their Nottingham office. Offering over 10 years commercial property knowledge Scott now predominately deals with industrial property and commercial investment transactions throughout the region. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Ged O’Donoghue, Director of Estates at Nottingham Trent University leads the team responsible for all the land and buildings at the University – space and sustainability, acquisition and disposal, development, engineering, facilities management, cleaning, grounds and building maintenance. Has overseen all NTU development over the past twenty five years and fronts up a hugely ambitious development programme up to 2025. A surveyor by training and background who moved into development and environmental sustainability many years ago.
