MEC strengthens Senior Management team with new structures lead
MEC Consulting Group has confirmed a new lead for its Structures division, appointing Daniel Tuley as Associate.
A qualified structural engineer with 13 years’ experience, Daniel will run the firm’s Structures team, which provides technical designs, surveys, assessments and advice for new builds, refurbishments and alterations across the commercial, residential and heritage sectors.
“This role was exciting as it offered the chance to expand MEC’s Structures discipline,” says Daniel. “The team has a strong existing client base, but there is definitely scope to broaden this, particularly in sectors I’ve worked in before such as food production, vehicle manufacturing and aerospace, so these will be new targets.
“From my initial conversations, I was impressed by the company’s ambitious and forward-thinking management team, and I liked the opportunity to collaborate with the other division leads on multi-disciplinary projects,” adds Daniel.
Daniel’s role will be split across MEC’s Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham offices, and will also include mentoring the firm’s assistant structural engineer, Euan Broughton.
Daniel continues: “The emphasis on professional development was another aspect of the role that appealed. In my previous job, I grew my division from a single person team to a team of four and I found this process of nurturing others really rewarding. I’m also still studying towards my own professional qualification with the IStructE so very much aim to lead by example!”
MEC’s Managing Director, Alex Bennett said: “Daniel stood out from the very beginning. He’s knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and has quickly built trust with clients and colleagues. He brings valuable experience from new markets and has a hands-on approach that fits perfectly with our business. We are confident the Structures team will thrive under his leadership.”
As Associate-Structures, Daniel’s ongoing projects include foundation and superstructure designs for a residential development in Repton, Derbyshire; vibro-ground improvements and piled foundations for a 177-unit housing scheme in Solihull, West Midlands; structural surveys to support the conversion of an industrial building in Market Harborough, Leicestershire into padel courts; and initial assessments for residential schemes in Kingsbury, Staffordshire and Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
