Plans revealed for transformation of former college site
A former college base in Nottingham could be set to be transformed – with new housing being built in its place.
Plans have been revealed to turn the former Castle College site on Carlton Road, just outside the city centre, into 55 new homes, to be built by housebuilding giant Keepmoat.
The land has been derelict for some time. The majority of buildings on the site have been demolished to ground level with the exception of one small single storey building to the north.
The proposed scheme would be made up of two-storey detached and semi-detached houses, with three- and four-storey apartment blocks.
A planning statement reads: “The proposal includes the redevelopment of the site with a scheme for 55 dwellings including demolition of the existing building and hardstanding, upgrading the existing access, new drainage and highways infrastructure, substation and open space.”
Nottingham City Council planning bosses will assess the proposals over coming weeks.
