Our Values

We’re committed to our clients and our people / Our clients trust us to do a great job. In turn, we’re able to deliver outstanding work because we trust our people. Because everyone thoroughly plays their part, we’re a strong and trusted team.

We’re creative and realistic / Our service combines over 135 years of expertise and experience in new ways that make a genuine difference to projects. Through an entrepreneurial and flexible approach, we’re prepared to look outside of the norm to find the perfect answer.

We combine professionalism with personality / Remembering that we deal with real people helps us tell it straight. Being human also means we recognise that it’s easier to produce our best work if we have the best relationships.

Together for a Sustainable Future

Our purpose is to shape the future of the built environment with an ethical, sustainable and socially conscious mindset.

We recognise we are on a journey and don’t have all the answers now. However, we’re curious and committed to learning more, so our ESG strategy is about progress, not perfection. We are looking for efficiencies, as well as opportunities, to create value for our wider stakeholders.

Working with our stakeholders, ESG Steering Group and Consultation Group, we have undertaken a materiality assessment to determine the global reporting topics where we have a significant impact. These global priority topics are aligned with the People / Project / Planet themes and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

By adopting the GRI standards and aligning our material topics with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we aim to share our ESG progress and plans within a transparent framework.

Our story: reconstructing hope

The damage from El Nino storms in 2017 affected 1.1 million people, leaving 178,000 people homeless. In response, the Department for International Trade (DIT) signed a government-to-government agreement with Peru in 2020 to reconstruct schools, hospitals and flood defences. We're proud to not be simply undoing the damage, but building climate resilience for the future. We are helping our client Autoridad para la Reconstrucción con Cambios (ARCC) deploy nature-based solutions to enhance infrastructure across 9 regions in Peru and we are using digital technologies to deploy more efficiently and sustainably. Significant progress is being made in rebuilding 74 schools, 15 healthcare facilities, plus carrying out flood defence works on 17 rivers across the country.

In recognition of its outstanding achievements so far, ARCC won the 2022 NEC Client of the Year Award.

Our story "Reconstructing hope" featured at COP27, showing how effective intergovernmental collaboration is helping make this a reality.
